Welcome to Mrs. Jones' Website
Hello and Welcome to 5th grade. My name is Heidi Jones and I have been teaching at Merton since 1989. They say those who love their job never work a day in their life.  That is exactly how I feel.  How lucky am I?  I cannot imagine doing anything else.  I feel so blessed to work in a district where the staff, students, and community are so supportive and kind.  In 1985 I completed my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Education at UW-Whitewater.  I have a Masters Degree in Reading from Cardinal Stritch University (1998).  My life outside of school is centered around my family.  My husband Jeff and I have been married for 22 years.  We have two wonderful boys, Logan and Cameron, who attend Arrowhead High School.  When I'm not enjoying time with my family, I like to travel, watch football, and swim.  Again, welcome to Merton School, I'm so glad you're here.

Throughout  my career at Merton I have been on the math committee, the TILT committee, the spelling bee coordinator, the summer school coordinator, taught fourth grade for twenty-one years prior to coming to fifth grade, and recently became a Level One Google Certified Educator.

I love kids!  Plain and simple.  They are full of wonder and their minds are eager to learn...just like me!  I consider myself a student in the classroom as well.  We all have so much to learn from one another.

I believe in the 4 C's: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity.  I try and base all of our learning experiences with the 4 C's in mind.

I believe that children learn better when they can move and not "sit still" in a desk all day!

I also believe in connecting with other classes around the globe.  We now live in a global society and meeting other classrooms, teachers, and authors via Google Hang Out is just another great way to learn!

Thank you for sharing your children with me.  I promise to take good care of them while they are in Room 103.  It is a pleasure to meet you and please feel free to follow our classroom experiences on twitter @jonesclass103 .
