Welcome to Mrs. Murphy's Speech Therapy!

The 2017-2018 school year begins my 11th year as a speech-language pathologist, and my 6th year at Merton Primary School.  As a speech-language pathologist (SLP), I evaluate and treat students who have a variety of speech and language disorders.  My students can range in age from 3 to 21, though here at Merton I see 3 year olds through 4th grade.  My students may have articulation disorders (speech sound errors in which they are difficult to understand), language disorders (verbal communication, comprehension), stuttering, hearing impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or other health impairments (cerebal palsy, Down's Syndrome).

I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of MN Duluth.  Over the years I've worked in early childhood and elementary programs, as well as in medical settings.  In addition to my teaching license, I hold a Certificate in Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Hearing Association, and a state license issued by Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.  I am a Level 2 Google Certified Educator and a Telepractioner with PresenceLearning.

I am married with two young daughters.  As a parent, I understand the emotions involved in raising children, and I hope to alleviate any fears or concerns you may have.  I understand the trust you're placing in me.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
