Katherine's Philosophy Statement:

"Teaching is about more than test scores and reading levels. It is about the whole student. Not only do I teach my students the skills and strategies necessary for success in their chosen course of education, I also strive to teach students how to be respectful citizens and independent thinkers. I have high standards for my students both socially and academically and work daily to support my students in reaching these expectations. I strive to make reading and writing both surprising and engaging. I encourage my students to take risks with their learning by taking my own risks with my teaching style. I'm never afraid to do something silly or 'out there' if it means making learning more memorable for my students."
