I have been running a book club for Mothers and Daughters for a number of years now. I started the book club for several reasons:
1. To share the joy of reading together
2. To create a way for mothers and daughters to converse easily
3. To set that ease of conversation in stone for the middle school years when conversations become one dimensional.
For the book club mother and daughter each read the month's book collection, either together or individually. We meet once a month, the last Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 7:30 in the Library. We talk about what was great about the book, the characters, the most exciting parts, the sad parts, or even the boring parts. We all get to share and have fun!
You can pick and choose which months to come or come to all of them. This year we will met with the Guys Read Book Club twice, in November and in May.
The book selections for this year are:
October Ragweed by Avi
November A Week in the Woods by Clements
December /January Walk Two Moons by Creech
February The View from Saturday by Konigsburg
March Pictures of Hollis Woods by Giff
April Gathering Blue by Lowry
