  • Distinguish the properties of ionic and covalent compounds.
  • Define ion
  • Determine and predict ionic charge based on groups 1, 2, 13-18 on the periodic table.
  • Correctly name ionic compounds from a formula
  • Correctly write the formula for an ionic compound from a name
  • Correctly name covalent compounds from formula
  • Correctly write the formula for a covalent compound from a name
  • Identify the reactants and products within a chemical equation.
  • Apply the law of conservation of mass to chemical reactions observed in lab
  • Identify factors that indicate a chemical change has occurred.
  • Balance chemical equations using coefficients
  • Write chemical equations from word descriptions
