Project Management

Meerstone Archaeological Consultancy have run a number of successful community projects and supported other projects.

There are many approaches to community projects. Some projects are completely run by community groups without any professional involvement. We have however recognised that projects managed by community groups often benefit from mentoring and support from a professional archaeologist. Where a professional archaeologist takes on the role of project manager, projects tend to make more of a contribution to the understanding of local heritage. Such as role has to be approached sensitively and with projects that we have managed, we have made a conscious effort to include all those involved with the project, in the day to day decision making. Taking this open and transparent approach builds a strong sense of ownership with volunteers which translates to a significant long term legacy for local communities.
