Purpose of the Job

As CTO, your role spans over strategy, tactical and implementation. You are called to

  • Lead technology scaling, while effectively aligning tech-operational priorities with the company’s mission.

  • Enable effective execution on the company’s strategy by envisioning, developing, deploying and continuously assuring novelty in MEDx service offerings.

  • Actively contribute to enhancing a sustainable competitive advantage through novelty in the tech-operational model, as well as through strategic selection and retention of key partners.


Your Responsibilities in Strategy & Planning include but are not limited to the following

  • As a member of the Strategic team, analyse opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services as a web-based business(e.g. competitive services, opportunities for innovation, technical hurdles…)

  • Mentor and educate stakeholders on the company’s technology strategy. This may include investors, media, sponsors, management, staff, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.

  • Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives, coordinating timelines for testing and deployment of new developments

  • Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior that may support or impede the success of the business and define scenarios and action plans to overcome threats and weaknesses

  • Continuously evaluate and refresh the technology platforms used for delivering MEDx services (e.g. web app frameworks and deployment stacks)

  • Contribute to establishing governance processes for goal setting, monitoring and reward to ensure objectives are achieved, risks are managed and resources are used responsibly

  • Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support company organizational needs (e.g. Marketing SEO & customer segmentation, Customer service …)

  • Development and execute an enterprise-wide information security plan that protects the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company’s data and servers in line with stakeholders’ expectations.

  • Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

  • Develop, track, and control the development and deployment of annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.


Your Responsibilities in Implementation & Deployment include but are not limited to

  • Lead recommendations with regards to the maintenance of the company’s web domain names, including any related-but-unused domains that could compromise the integrity of the business

  • Define the company’s software development methodology and establish an application deployment process, ensuring monitoring E.g. define and monitor the process for new development releases

  • Select, deploy, and monitor performance profiling tools and procedures

  • Establish and optimize internal quality standards and perform internal controls including integration, system and code testing

  • Enable digital performance in other departments e.g. establish process to integrate customer service and support to improve application usability, support the marketing by implementing technical requirements for Internet marketing, search engine optimization and web analytics

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define use cases and requirement specifications for improvements

  • Review and implement best practices for the selected web framework and establish the initial architecture for the application.


Your Responsibilities in Operational Management include but are not limited to the following

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices by attending relevant conferences and reading widely

  • Define and communicate company values and standards for acquiring or developing systems, equipment, or software within the company.

  • Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization.

  • Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all development staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.

  • Establish standards of performance and monitor conformance for staff (through performance review) and vendors (through service level agreements).

  • Ensure the company’s internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with community expectations and applicable laws and regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility.

  • Promote achievement of the company’s business goals within a context of community collaboration by developing policies for sharing software code, technological innovation, business processes, and other intellectual property.

  • Contribute to standardization of technologies, and evolution of best practices by collaborating with peers outside the company, releasing code, presenting at conferences, and writing for publication (online or offline).


Position Requirements

  • We are looking for a unicorn who visualises as a dreamer, thinks as an innovator, acts as a leader, executes as a deliverer, and goes after life with enthusiasm

  • A university degree in the field of computer science and/or technology management is needed. Moreover training and/or experience in either of web businesses, healthcare business, digital transformation is a plus.

  • Proven experience in taken a concept to market

  • Hands-on experience coding in more than one currently popular web application framework. Working knowledge of PHP, SQL, XHTML/CSS/Javascript/AJAX

  • Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and to build a network of knowledge

  • Knowledge of Internet protocols, and RFC standards, web standards, database management systems, and revision control systems.

  • Familiarity with information security, consumer privacy, e-payments compliance requirements, .

  • Proven ability to think and act at strategic, tactical and operational levels

  • Ability to understand and balance both commercial and technological aspects of business

  • Self-motivated, excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.

  • Superior analytical, evaluative, prioritizing and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

  • You have an understanding of database modelling, application of OOP (Object Oriented Programming) concepts, MVC design pattern
