[This could be the same John Johnson who later shows up in Tippah County, MS with Jonathan Medford and George Medford. Ann Broadbent pointed out that William Massey is either the Uncle or Grandfather of Lydia Massey (the wife of Jonas Medford of Haywood, NC).  This James is likely Jonas Medford.  I would also like to note that Israel Medford's daughter Mary Ann was born in South Carolina.]
