Course Description:
Students will investigate and develop skills and understanding related to number theory, linear equations, consumer mathematics, financial management, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistics. This course enables students to develop problem-solving skills, while fostering critical thinking with authentic problems that apply to their lives.

Class Goals:
· Set Theory, Number Theory / Real Number System, Equations / Inequalities, Graphs / Functions / Linear Systems, Consumer Math / Financial Management, Measurement
Geometry, Probability, Statistics, Voting and Apportionment, Logic
Assignments:
· Homework is a chance to practice and remember previous learned skills. Late Homework for the chapter not completed and turned in by the Individual Test will not be accepted and will be a zero.
· Teamwork will be a big part of our learning experience. You will be working with different partners throughout the semester.
· Quizzes will be given during each chapter, most of them announced. This is a good opportunity to practice before your tests.
· Tests are going to be a large portion of your grade. There will be chapter tests which may include review of prior concepts. If you are absent the day of a test, you are responsible for making arrangements with me to take the test ASAP.
** Weights: [Daily Assignments (25%), Quizzes (25%), Unit Tests (50%)] 85% of Grade
Final Exam (15%) – weighted separately in final grade calculation
Class Expectations:
· Be respectful to the teacher, classmates, and surroundings.
· Be actively engaged in your own learning and responsible for your actions
· Water is the beverage of choice for the classroom.
· Come to class everyday prepared with everything you need and wait until given the direction to pack up and leave the classroom
· The after school program will be used as a resource for missing work & makeup work due to absences and extra practice. The after school program is held Tuesday thru Thursday in the library from 3:15 – 5:15 p.m.
Attendance Policy:
We will follow the policies for absences and tardies per the student handbook. The student will be responsible for any assignments missed.
