TRENTONES!!

Congratulations on your 2nd place finish!! 2016

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for the awesome performance put on by our very own Trentones Show Choir.  At the Maine State Show Choir Festival, our students put on an exceptional performance.  And for their efforts they earned a #1

rating and 2nd place overall! Also, our very own Julianna Serrato received a musicianship award for her solo. Not only did the ensemble place well at states, they were also the talk of the MDIRSS community for their performance at the District Show Choir performances the night before at MDI High School.

Thanks to Vivian Hyde for accompanying the ensemble on piano and Carl Ferm for providing the percussion. Also, all those parents who helped the group on their journey.  These experiences are the things that students remember and form the building blocks that keep them engaged in school and foster perseverance.

Trentones Take 3rd at State Vocal Jazz Competition!
Congratulations to the Trentones team for their great performance on finishing 3rd in their division and earning a #1 Gold Rating!  In the last few days before the competition students were starting to feel under the weather.  It never showed once they were on stage.  What a tough and committed group. Their presence on stage was incredible.

Trenton Girls Basketball Team are Coastal League Runners-up!
There was a wonderful home town crowd gathered at the MDIHS Gym to watch our girls basketball team play Mount Desert Elementary for the championship. This amazing group of young athletes played hard all game long and just came up short.  But watch out Coastal League, this is a young team with one eight grader going on to high school.  They have played this season with a lot of grit and determination and have been a joy to watch.

Trenton Robotics
The Trenton Robotics Team had a grand day at the regional competition Saturday at Old Town Elementary School. Our team earned enough points to advance to the state competition in August in December.  They also won an award for the quality of their research for that portion of the competition.  Congratulations team!!

Art Show at the Grand

If you find yourself in Ellsworth over the next few weeks, stop in at the Grand to see some Trenton Elementary student art work.  On display is a collection of works from students in grades 1-4

Trenton Robotics
The Timber Wolf robotics team competed at the Washington County Robotics competition at the University of Maine Machias.  A team of 5th graders  and a team of 7th graders competed in the challenge and creativity categories.  Students on the 5th grade team worked hard at solving problems to programing their robot to perform the task assigned to it.  The adage, “practice makes progress” was in full swing as the team continually improved their programming.

Our 7th grade team made up of  Noah and Kyle earned two awards in the competition.  They received the 2nd place rookie award and the 1st place award for   creativity for their chocolate delivery machine. Congratulations boys!!
