MDI Drama Rehearsal Attendance Policy

A key to producing good theater is regular rehearsal attendance.  To that end, the following policies will govern attendance for all MDI Drama productions.

1. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each day's rehearsal (usually at 2:45 p.m. after school or 9:00 a.m. Saturday down front in the H-D theater).

2. Students who are absent from three non-consecutive rehearsals, or two consecutive rehearsals (excused or unexcused) will be asked to attend a review with the director and production staff members.  The director and staff members will determine what course of action to take, up to and including the dismissal of the student from the production.

3. Students who are absent from four non-consecutive or three consecutive rehearsals (excused or unexcused) will be dismissed from the production.

4. Two unexcused tardies will count as one absence.

Policy Definitions

Absence - Missing a rehearsal for any reason, whether excused or unexcused.  For the sake of the policy, no distinction is made between excused or unexcused absences.  One-hour after school detention counts as an absence.

Tardy - Arriving late to any segment of rehearsal, including roll call/warm up).  It is left to the discretion of the director or staff member to determine whether the tardy is excused.  Excused tardies include (but are not limited to) finishing classwork (with teacher note).  Unexcused tardies include (but are not limited to) teacher detention of less than an hour.
