Instructor Note:
Please download and read the notes before the class, and bring them with you to class. These lecture notes cover both the Technician License and General License exam questions. In class we will cover only the Technician License questions and not the General License questions. If you are interested in getting a General License, read the questions that start with “G”. Otherwise just read the questions that start with “T”. General License questions are also indicated by appearing in blue, and General License answers have only the correct answers included). Remember, if you are only interested in the Technician License at this time, just focus on the questions that begin with “T”.

Recommended Manual:

Rich recommends that you buy and read the Gordo West Technician Class  Manual before the class .

You can purchase the book at Ham Radio Outlet in Oakland.
Call HRO at
1-800-854-6046 or go to their web site.
It is also available at Amazon.com and the Gordon West Training Resources web site.

Make sure you get the latest version of the book which includes the current Technician Class question pool with answer key for use July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022.

Testing:
If you plan on taking the Technician Class license test after the class ends on Saturday, remember the following:

• The license exam fee is $15. Cash only. Please bring exact change if possible.

• You will need a government-issued photo ID, and will need to write down your Social Security number on the application (this applies to everyone, including minors).  If you prefer to not use your Social Security number, you should obtain an FRN (Federal Registration Number) from the FCC (www.fcc.gov) and bring that FRN number to the exam registration desk.

• You may bring and use a calculator for the exam, but the calculator cannot be programmable.  You may not use a calculator app on a smart phone.

• If you don't pass the license test on Saturday afternoon, retakes will be available on Sunday morning. You must pay the fee again.
