Hello!  I am very excited to kick off my second year on the 9th grade g2 team! I look forward to meeting the new students and their families as they transition into the high school setting. In this Language Arts class, we will develop and enhance reading, speaking, writing, and listening skills, which are essential in a Language Arts classroom. We will also explore Literacy standards through group projects, homework, discussion, and reflection.

The project that is pictured above represents some of my 9th graders from the 2011-12 school year, as well as some of my volleyball players. My homeroom students helped bind these patches altogether to make a quilt to decorate my room!

This 2012-13 school year, I am very excited to begin teaching AP Literature and Composition for the first time. I look forward to challenging the students and myself in the analysis of literature and poetry during this class. The course will begin second quarter and continue throughout the spring semester.

I hope to engage my students in rigorous and relevant learning, as well as keep high expectations in the classroom. I look forward to learning more about my students, and with a student-centered learning environment, I hope to develop positive relationships with them.

As you navigate through the various pages of my website, you will find recent activities pictured and/or explained at the top of each page. Assignments and due dates are posted as a resource for my students, as well. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to email me at cwrhoten@mscdonline.org.

Let's have a great school year! Go Muskies!
