Hello. I'm Mrs. Cantrell. I'm so excited to work in the G2 department. In addition to the 11G2 English classes, I'll be teaching one section of Pre-AP Literature and Exploring Drama. I may be a new teacher to Muscatine High School, but this isn't the first time that I've walked these halls. This Muskie graduated in 1986. I then graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1993 with my BA in Mass Communications/Journalism and earned a B.Ed English/Speech/Theater/Journalism in 2006. Prior to this teaching assignment, I taught 9th grade English and Speech at Louisa-Muscatine High School. I have also worked as a print and radio journalist at The Muscatine Journal, KWPC/KWCC in Muscatine, and KCJJ in Iowa City, but my first real job was as a disc jockey on the President Riverboat Casino.
I am married to Todd Cantrell, who also graduated from MHS in 1986. I have a daughter Anna, 14, who is entering her high school years here and is thrilled to have her mom so close (just kidding). Ethan,7, will enter the second grade this year.
Fun Fact 1 - I once won a blue ribbon for zucchini bread.
Fun Fact 2 - I have interviewed Current Vice President Joe Biden (when he was a Presidential hopeful), sports announcer and former Steeler Lynn Swann, and actor and major Hawkeye fan Tom Arnold.
Fun Fact 3 - I own every episode, CD, and Glee! Wii game.
When I'm not teaching or transporting my own children around, I enjoy reading and gardening.
Let's have a great year!
