Hello and welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! This is my sixth year of teaching at Muscatine High School and I look forward to exploring the world of Chemistry with my students!
Here is a little about me:
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa
and a Masters Degree in Education from Kaplan University.
During my high school years, I began working as a lab assistant, testing water and soil samples at Q.C. Metallurgical Labs. I served my internship at Fort Dodge Laboratories during my undergraduate engineering studies where I researched different filtration techniques for the production of animal vaccines. After I graduated, I worked for two years at Genencor International in the fermentation department where I helped grow enzymes that are used in laundry detergents. FUN times!
When our first son was born I found my new passion in life as a full time mom and a state registered child care provider. For thirteen years I enjoyed working with young children in my home. I even developed my own preschool curriculum including some fun science experiments in my kitchen! The kids and I took fun field trips to museums, art exhibits, live theater performances, zoos, and library programs.
I worked to achieve a masters degree in education so that I could become a chemistry teacher and combine BOTH of my passions: chemistry and teaching.
My husband Bob and I have three sons. Nick is 18 and a freshman at the University of Iowa's School of Music, Zack is almost 15 and a freshman here at MHS and Luke is 11 and a 6th grader at Central Middle School.
We enjoy camping, hiking, canoeing, biking, movies, board games and traveling together! The photo below was taken right before we all went indoor skydiving during our summer vacation in San Fransisco, California. :)
Our furry family members include two cats named Jazzy and Jane, and a dog named Jasper.

That is enough about me...
I am looking forward to the new 2016-2017 school year and getting to know all of you!
