2018 Wrestling


We are excited to announce that 2018 is the first year McKinleyville Middle School will be having a wresting team.  The team is co-ed and will be  competing against Zane and Winship middle schools.

MMS Wrestling Schedule 2018

We encourage all MMS wrestlers to work on conditioning at home. Below are some training exercises wrestlers can do for maximum endurance.

Aerobic Training

Day 1: Alactic Power

  • 40-yard sprints with 2-3 minutes of rest between reps
  • Perform until you start slowing down. Specifically, there should be no more than a 10 percent drop in speed.

Day 2: Aerobic Capacity

  • With twenty minutes on a clock, begin a relaxed and loose jog
  • Maintain speed until you start breathing heavily, then slow down to a walk
  • When you feel almost recovered (not completely recovered), jog again
  • Ebb and flow between 50 to 70 percent of your max effort, and never let your heart rate fall out of the 120 to 150 range.

Anaerobic Lactic Training

  • Sprints - 3x15 seconds
  • Chin-Ups - 3x6
  • Knee Grabs - 3x8; rest 60 second
  • Sprints -  3x15 seconds
  • Push-Ups - 3x8
  • Bicycles - 3x10; rest 60 seconds
  • Sprints - 3x15 seconds
  • Bicep Curls - 3x8
  • Sit-Ups - 3x8; rest 60 seconds
