MMS Comets Soccer Coaches
My name is Ricardo Flores and I will be one of the soccer coaches this season at MMS. I am
excited to be able to take this position along with Coach Hong and Coach Douthit.
I am really looking forward to the season. I grew up playing soccer and played throughout my
middle school and high school years. In college, I pursued running track and field and cross
country. I still play soccer here and there at HSU but for intramural sports.

I have experience in coaching high school track and field and collegiate cross country and track
and field. I was the head track and field coach at James Lick High School my junior year of
college and was a part time assistant coach at Humboldt State for a year. I was a part time coach
for the boys 8-10 Mad River United soccer team for the past few summers. I have spent my
undergrad working in schools around the area. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, with
an emphasis on Physical Education. I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Adapted
Physical Education. Safety qualifications include CPR, First Aid and First Responder to

Never give up! Failure and rejection are only the first step to succeeding.”– Jim Valvano

Hello! My name is Bunlong Hong and I will be assisting Coach Flores with soccer this season.
I am a graduate of Humboldt State University and studied Kinesiology with an emphasis in
Teaching. I am currently in the graduate program studying to work with students who have
disabilities. My sport backgrounds include football, wrestling, baseball, and soccer. My goals for
student athletes are to develop personal skills as well as team work. I am excited to work with
students at my teaching site and look forward to this season!

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of
all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. – Pele
