Counseling Center

Welcome to our counseling webpage.  We have two school counselors on staff at EMMS:

-Mrs. Ashley Bartlett

I'm Mrs. Bartlett! This will be my eighth year on the job at EMMS and I'm thrilled to be here! A little bit about me: I was born in Charlotte, NC and moved over to Waynesville, NC when I was about 4 years old. I graduated high school at Tuscola and went to college at Montreat on a golf scholarship.  After Montreat, I went straight into the graduate school program at Western Carolina University.
I married the love of my life after I graduated from WCU and moved to McDowell County where my husband and I have lived for a little over seven years now. We were blessed to welcome baby Jace Maddux into our family in 2016! He is a sweet, fun little boy now and is such a character!  And now we have a baby girl, Sutton, on the way!
I can't wait to see what's in store for us at EMMS this year and pumped to be here!! Below is my information and if you ever need me for anything, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Attention: I will be on Maternity Leave starting April 22nd through the end of the school year. I will not be checking my emails during that time. Please call East or email Mr. Partlow or Mrs. Bolick if you need any support. Thanks so much!

-Mr. Tim Partlow

I'm Mr. Partlow. This is my 13th year as a school counselor in McDowell County Schools. I was a counselor at East McDowell Junior High for three years. I then transferred to McDowell Alternative Education Center where I enjoyed being the school counselor for seven years. This is my third year back at East McDowell Middle School and I am excited to be here!
I was born in Goshen, IN. I moved to Montreat, NC in 1995 where I attended Montreat College and graduated with a Bachelor in Human Services. I then worked in public mental health for five years. I returned to school at Gardner-Webb University where I received a Master Degree in School Counseling. I have lived in Buncombe County for 25 years. I love living in Black Mountain with my wife Jamie and my daughters Aubrey and Ivy.
I have a passion to care for middle schoolers and I am looking forward to continuing this journey as a school counselor at East McDowell Middle School. If you ever need to get a hold of me either stop by between 7:30-4:00 or you can do one of the following-
