2018 Summer/Fall Sports News


7th Grade-Football is a great sport for athletes of all sizes. It helps in developing skills that apply to other sports like, basketball, wrestling, and baseball. We are here to help promote the game of football while field fun, safe, and competitive squads. We will begin with pre-season sessions July 17-19 from 5:00-6:30 at Olcott Park (behind JCMS). 7th grade football registration is July 23 (4:00-4:30) at JCMS. Practice follows registration and continues through the week. Players need a current completed athletic physical dated after 4/1/18. Contact Coach Duvall at jduvall@mccsc.edu 

8th Grade-Football will begin preseason workouts July 18-10 from 5:00-6:30 at Olcott Park. Players are to wear tee shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes. Please bring a water bottle as well. Starting july 23-August 7, football practice will be held from 4:00-6:15. Any questions, please contact Coach Washington at iwashington3311@gmail.com


Voluntary volleyball open gym for incoming 7th and 8th graders will start Tuesday, July 10th from 5:00-7:00pm in the JCMS gym and run Tuesdays and Thursdays through the remainder of the summer. These open gyms are not mandatory, but they will be a great opportunity for you to learn and practice your fundamental and team skills as well as condition. Tryouts will be held Monday, August 6th, 7th, and 8th from 3:00-5:15. If you have any questions please contact Coach Samantha Fritz at sjfritz85@gmail.com

Cross Country:

If you are interested in a sport for girls and boys that help you achieve your potential, then you should try Cross Country. We stretch and run at practices for about an hour and we push ourselves towards our meet running distances of 1.8 to 2 miles. Runners pace themselves and improve their personal time throughout the season. Our season begins in August and goes to the second week of October, so it's great conditioning for winter sport athletes (basketball, wrestling, swimming). It is recommended that each athlete run 1-3 miles at least three times a week during the month of July. The first official practice is August 9th, after school until 4:30. Optional summer practice is July 31st, August 1st, and August 2nd, from 8:00am-9:00am. We will meet at Door 16 by the gymnasium. Please bring water bottles and be ready for a short run.
