MC2 STEM High School is a year round, project-based STEM school intent on preparing students for college and successful careers in STEM fields. However, our capstone projects don’t just appear out of thin air. Teachers, administrators, partners, and students work together during weekly planning meetings and a one-week Professional Development Institute (PDI) to develop rich, engaging, transdisciplinary hands-on capstones.

Capstone Design is a four-phase approach influenced by the Understanding by Design approach (Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe). All parts of the Capstone Design Process are founded on four key concepts of MC2STEM’s pedagogy: Transdisciplinary Project-Based Learning, STEM Education, Community Partnerships, and Mastery Learning.
