GUIDANCE curriculum works in conjunction with the Massachusetts Health Framework. Since good health is linked with better school performance, schools have a vested interest in preventing risk behaviors that have a negative impact on health. The Guidance Department is the central agency for addressing these behaviors. Children’s first and continuing teachers are parents, guardians, and families who are influential in making appropriate health decisions. Guidance helps to build a bridge of communication between families and schools to facilitate healthy decision making by students.
Services are available to all students and parents as needed.
The mission of the school counseling department at Maynard High School is to assist students in achieving their goals through life-long learning and providing a comprehensive program that will assist students in acquiring 21st century skills. Our program addresses the academic, career, and personal/social needs of all of our students enabling them to become productive citizens. We embrace individual differences and insure that all students are valued and respected. We uphold high ethical standards and affirm the principles of democracy, equality, and justice.
