"The Desk Fairy"
The Desk Fairy randomly shows up in our classroom to leave notes and a treat in desks that are clean!  Encourage your student to keep a clean work area as it is important to their learning.

Please encourage your child to always do their best work!  We are working hard on good handwriting and taking our time on our work.

Our Quality Handwriting Scale:

The students are learning how to assess themselves and this scale shows them what I expect of them.  I am also specifically looking for students to begin using capitals and lowercase letters and spacing in their writing correctly.

Our School Newsletter comes home the day before the first day of the month!!!  Please check for it in your students backpack!!!  It contains a lot of important information and also will have the cafeteria menu attached for the next month.

A Few of My Favorite Sayings:
"Kids are the reason I teach"
"Teaching is not just a job, it's a privilege."
Many students have gone so much
further than they thought they could
because a teacher said they would.
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those
who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Tier Grouping Information:
After the Fall, Winter and Spring Benchmark tests for AimsWeb have been given we group the students by their abilities for 45 mins. a day (1:45-2:30).  During this time the students receive instruction that is catered to their needs.  We split these groups into 6+ groups by teachers.  This means that your child may visit another classroom and have another teacher for this time. All groups Tier 1-3 are all working on phonemic awareness, fluency, and writing using our letter sounds.  Each group works on their own level.  We are striving to make great gains in each group as we want all students in Tier 1.   I progress monitor Tiers 2 and 3 weekly so that they can move into the next tier as soon as possible.
