HI! My name is Greg Climan and I will be your child's Physical Education teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. It is going to be a GREAT year!

Just like with the students that I will be teaching, I encourage all parents/guardians to be a part of our classroom community. My goal as an educator is to build a relationship with each and every student, as well as with their parent/guardian, in order to be able to accommodate each student so that they’ll have the best experience possible.

Starting my second year at Unity, I am so excited to get the school year started! Last year was an amazing experience, and I look forward to continuing to build an inviting, energetic, and educational experience to our Physical Education program.

The mission of the PE Program for both Brookport and Unity elementary schools is as follows:

The goal of the Brookport/Unity Physical Education program is to provide students with a basic foundation of motor and manipulative skills, with an understanding of how physical fitness and team building help to develop effective personal and social skills throughout life. Our Physical Education community will empower all students and give them the skills needed to sustain regular, lifelong physical activities as a foundation for a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. Each day, students will engage and participate in team sports and group activities that will promote fitness and lifetime health.

Requirements for P.E. Class
  • All students must wear closed toe tennis shoes in order to participate in activities safely
  • Students will not be allowed to chew gum or candy for safety purposes
  • My goal is to use our outside space as much as possible, so if a student is sensitive to sunlight or needs accommodations for outside activities, please let me know so I can plan accordingly.
  • Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to P.E. class since we will be outside if the weather cooperates. I will have space in the gym for students to place their water bottle, shoes, and any other personal items they may bring to class with them
  • Both schools have a strict policy on cell phones, and I will work in accordance with that policy. Students will be asked to put their cell phone in the space for personal items during class.
