About our program:

The Marshalltown Senior High Band has much to offer the students at MHS through multiple performance opportunities as well as individual lessons, music theory and aural training. The Bobcat Band is a full academic class that meets during 1st period every day. In addition, the jazz program at MHS meets every other day 2nd period with an opportunity to participate in one of two auditions based jazz ensembles.

Other performance opportunities provided include the Bobcat Marching Band which provides entertainment at home varsity football games as well the local Oktemberfest Parade and Field Competition, Iowa High School Music Association State Marching Band Festival, 2-3 Competitive Marching Band Festivals, The Band Extravaganza, an indoor concert and every four years a performance in a New Years’ Day Parade.

The Bobcat Pep Band is a volunteer group made up of 70 students, who perform at numerous home basketball games, one Iowa State University Basketball game.

Students are also offered performance opportunities through Solo and Small Ensemble Festival, All-State, Honor Bands, and Community Performances. Thank you to all MHS Band Alumni and Parents for your involvement and support of MHS Bands.
