Senior Conferences:
Senior conferences were held the last week of August. Mrs. Harlan met with each senior to discuss credits they need to graduate, necessary requirements for college prep and honors, A+ status, future plans and financial aid. A financial aid packet was sent home with each student. All seniors and parents are encouraged to on online and get a FSA ID now to be ready to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after October 1st. Information about how to complete this step, along with a FAFSA on the web worksheet were included in the financial aid packet.

NCMC Dual Credit Scholarship:

This is a $300 one-time award presented to a student taking dual credit through NCMC. The application was emailed to the students and can also be found on the school website in the Counselor’s Corner.

Applications have to be received in the NCMC office by Monday, October 2.


Wendy’s High School Heisman Award: 

This award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership. Students must be in their senior year of high school, have at least a “B” (3.0) Grade Point Average, participate in at least one of the Heisman recognized sports programs and have significant participation in volunteer service, community involvement or leadership within his/her school or community. Applications and additional information can be found at

Hagan Scholarship Foundation:

Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, a 23 or higher on the ACT (or 1200 on the SAT), enroll in a 4-year college the first semester following high school graduation, must work 240 hours in the twelve months prior to the start of college, must complete the 2017 FAFSA using 2016 tax returns and have an EFC (Estimated Family Contribution) of less than $6,500 according to the FAFSA, and not have been convicted of a felony.  Details and the application can be found at

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship:

This is a highly competitive award open to all seniors.  Applications and details about the award can be found at
