Our Vision:

We believe that reading is vital to the success of all our students.  Reading is a lifelong skill that needs to be promoted daily and across all content areas.  All students from remedial to enrichment benefit from exposure to reading skills to be a productive citizen.  We believe that by creating a stimulating learning environment we can challenge our students to be successul in reading, writing and speaking.

Announcements: Here is a link for a great resource for parents about encouraging your middle school child to read and why it is important.

Author,  Jenn Malone, came to visit on December 5th to discuss with the students her love of reading and writing. She also encouraged them to always reach for their dreams and to never give up!

Southside's Winter Literacy Night on December 19th was a  huge success thanks in part to our Southside Community who helped donate items for our raffles, stations and food!  We thank all those who came out to support the literacy program and we look forward to future events!

This morning we were lucky to have the NH Fisher Cats come visit us and issue a Reading challenge to our students.  Every student who reads five books from any genre will be eligible to win two free tickets to designated games this Spring!  This is a great opportunity to connect a community partner with our school and to show our students that everyone is invested in them reading!  Let's go Southside Spartans we hope to see ALL of you at the ball park!!!
