From the Principal's Desk: August at Jewett

Post date: Aug 11, 2015 2:09:27 PM

Happy August!

Jewett will be a Targeted Title I School for the 2015/2016 year. We will be looking to provide supplemental learning opportunities for those K-2 students that are below grade level in Math and Reading. During the school year I will be hosting some parent information nights to discuss the Title I program and answer any questions that parents may have. I will release those dates with you as we get closer to the start of the school year.

The school will receive extra funding through Title I which will allow us to add a few more staff to the building. We are excited about the additional learning supports and look forward to planning great learning opportunities for the students. We will be adding three certified instructors and one Math/Literacy Intervention Teacher. With these additions there will also be some changes to our grade level teams. The following is a list of the grade level teams here at Jewett for the 2015/2016 school year:

Mrs. Houle is going to be the Math/Literacy Intervention teacher for the next school year. Her great experience and excellent leadership skills make her the perfect candidate for the position! Later this month the students entering grades K-5 will receive letters from their new teachers. These welcome letters will go out the week of August 17th.

The first day of school is September 2nd. The Kindergarten students will have their first day of school starting on Tuesday September 8th. During the days of September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th we will be hosting a Kindergarten parent and student orientation, school visitation, etc. Letters will go home in August letting all students at Jewett know who their teacher will be for next year. Included in the letter home to Kindergarten students will be a schedule of times and dates for the Kindergarten Orientation and school visitation.

Please continue to enjoy a safe and happy summer. We will see you soon!

Sincerely,

Peter Lubelczyk

Principal
