Below are books I have found helpful for various topics.

BULLYING

+ Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon (gr.1-3)a story about bullying.  Molly Lou Melon is short and clumsy, has buck teeth, and has a voice that sounds like a bull-frog.  When Molly Lou has to start a new school, a horrible bully picks on her, but Molly Lou know just what to do about that.

+ Simon’s Hook: A Story About Teases and Put-Downs (gr. 2-3) – A story about teasing and put-downs.  5 Strategies to stop bullying.

+ Nobody Knew What To Do: A Story about Bullying (gr. 1-4) – this story examines the feelings of the bystander child who sees another child bullied.  It offers solutions and gives hope to the child who is relieved not to be the one chosen by the bullies and afraid that he/she might be next on their list.

+ Trouble Talk (gr. 2-5) – a story about rumors, gossiping, lying, and sharing others’ information in order to establish connection and gain attention.  Maya’s new friend Bailey loves to talk but when Bailey begins to hurt people’s feelings and spread harmful rumors, Maya realizes she’s not the friend she needs.  As Bailey finds out in the end, trouble talk doesn't win you lasting friendships.

+ Just Kidding (gr. 3-5)  – about being bullied by a friend that always uses the excuse that he is “just kidding.”  Techniques on how to stop the bullying. 

+ SORRY! (gr. 1-3) – A story about a friend who uses “I’m sorry” as an excuse to get away with bullying & hurtful behavior.  The power of apology.

+ The Recess Queen (gr. 1-2) about a girl who bullies everyone at recess.  A new girl comes & asks Mean Jean to jump rope, the girls make friends & the bullying stops.

+ Hero Dad (gr. 1-3) – This story talks about how superheros and American soldiers are the same!

K-2) – It’s llama’s first day of school.  He misses mama so much he doesn't want to participate in any activities at school.  Finally he decides to play and finds he loves school and that mama comes back to get him at the end of the day, so he doesn't need to worry anymore.

+ Grace at Christmas (Gr. 1-4) – A story about a girl named Grace who is struggling with having strangers celebrating Christmas with her, Nana & Ma.  However after she gets to know them, it turns out to be the best Christmas yet!

+ Bear Feels Scared (gr. K-2) A story about feeling scared and friendship.  Bear gets lost in a storm in the woods and feels scared.  His friends come to his rescue and lead him home so that he feels safe.

+ Bear Feels Sick (gr. K-2) A story about feeling sick and friendship.  Bear gets a bad cold and feels very sick.  His friends try many things to help Bear feel better.  Finally their efforts work and Bear feels good!  But now his friends are sick so he takes care of them.

+ Sloppy Joe (gr. K-3) – Sloppy Joe is VERY sloppy, being sloppy gets him in trouble sometimes so he decides to be Neat Joe.  His family is sick so he tries to help them feel better, and they think Neat Joe is a lot like Sloppy Joe who is a very special kid.

+ Silverlicious (Gr. 1-3) – Pinkalicious has lost her sweet tooth, and writes a letter to the tooth fairy asking her to give Pinkalicious sweetness until her new sweet tooth comes in.  The tooth fairy is busy so Pinkalicious is visited by Cupid, the Easter Bunny and an elf all giving her candy to try to help; but their candy doesn't help.  Pinkalicious learns that “sweetness comes from the inside.  When you are sweet, the world and all the delicious things in it will be sweet too.”
