Laura Brake

Laura Brake is a Mathematics Achievement Specialist at the Department of Education in Prince Edward Island. She has a Master of Science degree with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

Laura is responsible for provincial mathematics assessments at grades 3, 6, and 9; and, is the Chairperson of the Provincial Math Projects Steering Committee. This provincial initiative delivers professional learning and instructional structures to teachers and administrators throughout the system, for the increase of student achievement in mathematics.

She is a frequent presenter of sessions, which focus on the integration of curriculum, instruction, and assessment at every level of education for the improvement of learning at the classroom level. Laura is a presenter for the Assessment Training Institute and is scheduled to present next in Portland, Oregon in June, 2015.

With twenty five years of experience in education and leadership, Laura’s expertise is in the identification of learning needs and barriers within a system; and, the design and implementation of effective and efficient pathways to removing those barriers and meeting the needs.
