Barb Galessiere

Barb Galessiere is a Curriculum Support Teacher for Literacy and Assessment for Hanover School Division. In this role, Barb looks after all aspects of training new teachers and supporting experienced teachers including offering small group in-servicing in literacy and assessment topics, modeling lessons in classrooms and meeting with teachers one-on-one for training.

Barb is a big believer in coming alongside educators to help them reach their professional goals. She is a qualified teacher and holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba.

Barb has almost twenty years of experience in education and has worked with teachers to learn each of the core Manitoba curriculums. She has taught Kindergarten to Grade 9 and enjoys helping teachers learn about differentiating their teaching and engaging instruction.

Barb offers a wide range of programs and services for teachers- from teaching about strategic instruction to planning and assessing units from outcomes. Barb has been involved in supporting literacy in Manitoba for many years, offering in-servicing for various school divisions on Trait Writing and is currently the president of the Manitoba Reading Association.

Barb is passionate about supporting teachers learn about better practices and classroom based assessment. She has planned and implemented many Professional Development sessions for Manitoba teachers including the recent Adolescent Literacy Summit.
