the teaching of math understanding in K-2 classrooms, the result is engaging.  Teachers comment on how they have been more intentional in having students be vocal about what they are doing.

despite the weather interruptions.  Thank you to all the participants, facilitators, and divisional coordinators that put so much into making the week a success.  We will see you in March!

September Cohort Week has begun

with Cohort B teachers back for their second year of professional learning (Grades 6 and 9).
.  Cohorts C-F will run throughout the province in the next few days.  Their focus will be on Grades 7 and 8.

Numeracy Achievement Project Cohort Leaders

were getting prepared for this year's cohort network sessions.  They met with Laura Brake in a two-day Summer Institute.  There was lots of discussion about how to best support teachers as the Numeracy Achievement Project moves to Grades 7 and 8.

Faye Brownlie worked with a team of educators at Ecole Crescentview School  (Portage la Prairie) to model planning for writing instruction in an K-8 classroom.  The audience consisted of literacy coaches from across rural Manitoba.

K-8 teachers shared their experiences using a variety of literacy strategies in their classrooms this winter.  Their facilitator, Faye Brownlie, shared that with purpose, feedback, practice, and timing, all students can improve in their writing.
