MDTA‎ > ‎

The MDTA concept has emerged out of the Manaiakalani Programme in response to innovation in the classrooms in our cluster schools.
It is clear that the traditional pathways of teacher training and professional learning development are unable to keep up with the rapid change occurring in our schools. The Manaiakalani Education Trust has responded to our concerns by actively searching for partners who would be prepared to support and fund a new approach to teacher professional learning.
The Manaiakalani Schools urgently need teachers who are 'at home in a digital world' in our classrooms and are providing a digital immersion experience for graduate teachers over two years in 2016/17.
In the first year the PRT will share a class (primary) or classes (college) with a mentor teacher while participating in a digital immersion programme lead by the Manaiakalani PLD team. At the same time the University of Auckland will offer a post graduate degree to this cohort. In 2017 the PRTs will begin the year with a class/es of their own.
