This past Monday, 25 January 2016 at the all-Faculty meeting, Dr. Jason Courter and I presented a brief overview of the grant as well as the opportunity for faculty to perform research with assistance from the SRUT grant project. A copy of the slide deck is attached below.

The three barriers to research at a small institution like Malone (perhaps any institution) are threefold:
  1. Time to perform the research
  2. Access to the resources needed to complete the research (specific facilities, software packages, etc.)
  3. Access to expertise outside of of the faculty member's own discipline.
We presented how this project is designed to overcome those obstacles and invited them to a more in-depth treatment was held on 1 Feb 2016 at 10am in the MH201 meeting room. Over twenty faculty researchers were present. Brian Guilfoos from the Ohio Supercomputing Center presented solutions from his organization and spoke towards other solutions that are out there via Internet2 and InCommon.

We will choose three with a potential for additional projects from the submissions. Guidelines for faculty research applications are available. Projects will be ranked using the criteria set forth in the guidelines. Submission packages are due as an email to srut-list@malone.edu by 13 May 2016. Decisions will be announced on or before 10 June 2016.
