Commemoration of Thomas Ashe

Commemoration of Thomas Ashe took place in Scoil Iosa Hall on Monday September 18th 2017. Speakers included Liz Gillis, historian and author of 7 books on the revolutionary period and RTE consultant on the 1916 Commemorations. Other speakers on the day were Tola Collier, historian and expert on Thomas Ashe, Dave Farrell Film producer and his son Colin Farrell, film director. A viewing of the film Fingals Finest, which tells the story of Thomas Ashe and the Battle of Ashbourne, took place in Scoil Iosa Hall. The National Anthem was played by a member of The Black Raven Piped Band, which was founded by Thomas Ashe in 1910.
