What is KidWind?

The KidWind Challenge is the ultimate wind energy learning experience for students. At Makersmiths, our middle- and high-school teams are exploring wind energy through the hands-on, investigative, and exciting KidWind Challenge! When our teams participate in a KidWind Challenge they will:
  • Discover the promise and limitations of wind energy technology
  • Design, build, and test a functional creative wind turbine
  • Compete with their peers in a supportive environment
Follow the links in the sidebar as we progress through the year to prepare for the Northern Virginia challenge on March 15, 2019 at Shenandoah University. At the competition, our teams will test out their wind turbines, take a knowledge quiz, participate in a problem-solving instant challenge, meet with judges to explain their project to how they worked together to create their wind turbines, and most of all, have a lot of fun!
