Welcome to Maine Area Al-Anon/Alateen

Al-Anon's Purpose: Al-Anon is a fellowship of those who are affected by another's drinking who come together to share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. We have but one purpose: to help families and friends of alcoholics. If you feel you have been affected by someone's drinking, you are welcome at Al-Anon meetings. Please check the meetings listed on the next pages to find the meetings closest to you. If you are a teenager affected by someone's drinking, you are welcome at Alateen meetings as well as Al-Anon meetings.

It is suggested that you try at least six meetings before you decide whether or not Al-Anon or Alateen can help you.

If you would like more information about meetings in Maine, please feel free to call the above numbers. We will make every effort to return your call in a timely manner. If you would like to view and download a meeting directory, click here.

Al-Anon's and Alateen's program of recovery is based on the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. More information can be found at

'There is hope in Al-Anon'.

Welcome to the NEW Alateen WSO Facebook page! We hope that anyone who knows someone who might benefit from Alateen will share our posts. We ask that members of Al-Anon and Alateen maintain their personal anonymity when sharing the posts!

“Alateen, part of the Al-Anon Family Groups, is a fellowship of young people whose lives have been affected by alcoholism in a family member or close friend. We help each other by sharing our experience, strength, and hope.” (from the Suggested Alateen Preamble to the Twelve Steps)

AWSC Meetings posted Oct 7, 2009, 12:11 PM by Web Master   [ updated May 12, 2011, 5:06 AM ]
Al-Anon World Service Committee meetings are held four times every year, usually the first Saturday in February and November, the Saturday after Labor Day and before the Delegate's Report Assembly in May (see 'Events' for this year's dates). These meetings are mandatory for Area Officers, Coordinators and District Representatives. All Al-Anon members are welcome to attend and participate with voice but no vote. The meeting is chaired by the Area Chairperson and an agenda is followed. This is where Al-Anon business is discussed: what is new in our Area (the state of Maine) as well as what is new in world-wide Al-Anon. Assembly agendas are also prepared at these meetings to ensure that our three annual assemblies run smoothly.
