The Young Naturalist Awards is a research-based science competition for students in grades 7-12 to promote participation and communication in science. The contest is sponsored by the American Museum of Natural History. On their website, they have a helpful video to explain more about the contest as well as tons of resources for creating a project (for both students and teachers. By participating in the contest, students gain an understanding of how the natural world works, reinforce their inquiry-based research skills, and deepen their interest in science. The entry deadline for this year is March 1, 2015. Winners can receive cash prizes, publication of their work, and other incentives.
