Hello! My name is Anu Stephen and I am a student at the University of South Florida. I am a double major in Biology and Psychology, with a minor in Astronomy. I aspire to become a doctor one day!
I was born and brought up in New Delhi, India. My family hails from Kerala, a southern state in India, also known as ‘God’s Own Country’ in India. My family moved to the United States of America in 2008, when I was 16 years old. After arriving here, I started 11th grade at Bloomingdale High School, Valrico, Florida. I graduated from Bloomingdale High School with Honors in 2010.
Studying at USF has been an absolute pleasure and I am fully prepared to put my best foot forward to fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor. I sincerely plan to work very hard in order to gain admission to medical school.
Additionally, I am also part of the Honors College Student Council, Pre-Med AMSA, Students of India Association and the National Society of Leadership & Success at USF. I am also truly passionate about Community Service; in fact, I think that it gives me a better perspective towards life every day that I do it. Moreover, I am greatly involved in the Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Church in various activities such as spiritual teaching, cultural programs etc.
Even though I have several hobbies, the one that I pursue the most is music, and I hope to learn how to play an acoustic guitar in the next few years. Moreover, I love traveling and plan to take part in several courses at the USF Honors College which will allow me to visit other countries and hence, immerse myself in their culture and expand the horizons of my knowledge. Through these mission trips, I also hope to broaden the scope of my knowledge of global and rural medicine.
