On this day, we celebrate a special occasion – the 50th anniversary of our school. When Andrew Jackson Junior High opened on August 30, 1971, 675 students walked in the door for the first time with a red carpet welcome. The cost of the new school was $1.7 million dollars. Here we are now, 50 years later remembering our history and looking forward to our school’s future. What makes a school? Is it the classrooms, the lunchroom, the bricks and blocks? No, it’s the students, teachers, staff, and community who are the culture of the school. We say thank you to our alumni, whose legacy established many of our AJ traditions, and for those who have graduated and gone on to help build our community and our world. Now we, the student body, staff, and community are building the future of Andrew Jackson Middle School and setting the path for the next 50 years.
