Spotlight on Success: Hillery York, class of 2012

In her own words…

I graduated from GVSU, in the spring of 2012, with a BA in history and a minor in archaeology. I am currently attending George Washington University, in Washington, DC, to obtain my masters in Museum Studies, with an emphasis on numismatics. In addition to my studies I am conducting a yearlong internship in the National Numismatic Collection, at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. In the collection I assist with various activities including collections management, updating the digital collections database and working on a new numismatic exhibit.

The National Numismatic Collection contains numismatic material from all around the world, including ancient and modern currency. The most exciting part of my job is opportunity to met and interact with researchers and collectors from around the world who share a passion for numismatic study.  I have also had the privilege to obtain an internship at the National Library of Medicine, on the campus of the National Institute of Health, coordinating their traveling exhibition program.
