Dear Online Students,

Welcome to the upcoming semester at CCSF! Orientation information for the classes will be e-mailed to your CCSF e-mail account approximately one week prior to the beginning of the semester. There are NO required on-campus meetings for the classes, inclusive of exams. Once the course has started, please contact me using the Canvas inbox. I can also be reached at my school email address: rancheta@ccsf.edu. Orientation materials will be available on Canvas (CCSF's online class platform) once the term begins.

INFORMATION FOR SOC 21: INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH METHODS

Students registered for SOC 21 section #78942-931 in the Fall 2019 term will be able to access the course via CCSF Canvas on the first day of this class -- Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Note that the class will not be available until the first official day of the Spring term. This is a CityOnline class and starts 9/3/19 and ends 12/20/19.

Information about adding a class: If the class is full when you attempt to register for it, I recommend that you register for the wait list for the section you are wanting to add. If there is space on the wait list you will be offered that option during the registration process. Getting on the wait list is the only way to have the possibility of adding once the class is full; I do not keep a separate waitlist beyond the official waiting list for these classes. If the waitlist is full, I recommend checking back daily as people do drop off the list for various reasons. Please see Waitlist FAQ for more detail about the CCSF waitlist process.

Are You Ready for an Online Class: Take this “TestYour Potential as an Online Student” quiz to measure your potential for success. Online learning isn’t for everyone. How well online courses work for you depends on many factors, including your computer system, computer skills and knowledge, reading skills, time management skills, motivation, study skills, self-discipline, and learning style.

Your Responsibilities: To successfully complete this course you will be expected to spend at least 15 hours per week on each weekly learning unit. Your time commitment will vary based upon your own level of experience with web technologies and level of personal commitment. An online course is NOT self-paced, and you must keep up with the weekly assignments and manage your time efficiently and effectively. Please don’t underestimate the time commitment. Please review this page with tips for succeeding in an online class at CCSF.
