Welcome to LIS 10: Use of Information Sources

Fall 2019 (online class!)
When: 08/2/2019-5/22/2019
CRN:38340 | Section: 932

I'm excited to work with you in Fall 2019 in exploring concepts of information literacy and how we can become information literate people in the Information Age. The Internet has made research fun, but challenging. This course will teach you how to research efficiently and effectively and locate the information you need for assignments and research here at CCSF and beyond. We will explore the research process, various information research tools, search techniques, online periodical databases, search engines, and more.

This section of LIS 10 is an online class, we will be meeting online (asynchronously), meaning that learning takes place without the constraints of time and place. We will be using Canvas, the College's learning management system, as our course site and meeting place. We will share ideas and collaborate on a weekly basis and we'll serve as a community of learners. All assignments, activities, discussions, readings will be posted on Canvas and are due on a weekly basis. Please check Canvas course site frequently for recent announcements, however, I will also send you email reminders, so, please get into the habit of checking your CCSF email account to stay up-to-date with course happenings such as due dates, assignments, grades, special announcements, etc.

CCSF operates the online learning management systems (LMS) called Canvas. You will need a RAMID to log into Canvas.

Please note that you cannot view or enter your course until the course start date listed in the schedule of classes. If you have just added, you will be enrolled in your online course within the next business day.
