Non-Profit & Give Local Piedmont

Join us as Madison Learning Center participates in Give Local Piedmont this year!

So what is a non-profit?

Non-profit organizations are dedicated to furthering a particular social cause or advocating for a shared point of view.  In our case, we are dedicated to providing quality child care and education in a licensed center to the local families of Madison County.

Non-profit organizations fulfill their missions by reinvesting the proceeds earned rather than distributing the profits to company leadership.  At MLC we reinvest what would otherwise be our profits back into the community.  We do this by keeping our tuition costs low and granting scholarships or tuition assistance to families who are not eligible for state-funded assistance.

Non-profits like MLC are not driven by generating profit, but we must produce enough income to fulfill our mission and remain financially stable. We can raise money in different ways such as income from programs or grants, individual or foundation donations, providing services such as child care, and through fundraising events such as Give Local Piedmont.

What is Give Local Piedmont?

Give Local Piedmont is the community's one-day, online giving event to inspire people to give generously to the non-profit organizations that make our region stronger, creating a thriving community for all.  It's our day to come together as one!  Every dollar donated from midnight to midnight on May 1st will be increased with "bonus" dollars generously provided by the PATH Foundation.  Additionally, other sponsors provide financial incentives or “prize dollars”.

Built on successful models from other cities, Give Local Piedmont raises money for the community, brings new donors and awareness to MLC and other local non-profits, and helps make our region a more vibrant place to live.

How can I participate?

Everyone can participate in Give Local Piedmont!  Individuals can make online donations to MLC.  The minimum donation is $10.  All donations made on May 1st give MLC the opportunity to earn bonus and prize dollars.  New this year: donors can schedule their donations up to two weeks ahead of the event, beginning April 17.
