Sandria Graham is a deaf dietitian currently
working towards becoming a Registered Dietitian. Her primary focus is on
dietary lifestyles to help prevent disease and uses an approach to holistic
health in terms of balancing mind, body, and spirit. Her areas of expertise include
overweight-obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol-heart disease,
gastrointestinal, osteoporosis, menopause, food allergy, and general nutrition.
Application of her work includes one-on-one counseling in office or with house-calls
(visits at home), presentations, workshop, small group classes, healthy
shopping tours and dining out experiences. She has given approximately 20 live presentations
to the deaf community in Michigan for
schoolchildren to senior citizen, and has used videophone with PowerPoint
presentations for deaf adults in Iowa and deaf
senior citizens in Texas.
Ms. Graham is fluent in American Sign Language and has been Deaf since birth.
She completed the accredited
dietetic internship program at the Hurley
last November 2007. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Dietetics with a minor in chemistry and biology from Madonna University. She is a member of the
American Dietetic Association and Michigan Dietetic Association. Her personal interests and pursuits
include camping, travel, healthy cooking, exercise, sewing, and was an organic
gardener for 20 years.
