Mrs. Erin Barrett
4th Grade ELAR / Texas History
Welcome students and parents. :) I hope to make this school year, 2016-2017, exciting for you both. My class covers 4th grade English Language Arts and Texas History TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), plus much more.

Every day my goal is to challenge all my students, while making learning fun and relevant. Research shows the most effective way to improve reading skills is for students to read regularly, independently. Each of my students will be expected to read (uninterrupted) for at least 20 min. in class each day and for at least 20 min. each night. This personal silent reading time should be a time for students to read what they choose.

I encourage students to be at school every day by 7:45 am. The tardy bell rings at 7:50 am. (Please read the student handbook for clarification on our district policies.) Our class is a calm and peaceful learning environment. I hope to make it feel like a second home. Remember READ, READ, READ to SUCCEED!

The best way to reach me is via email. It goes directly to my phone. erin.barrett@lvisd.org
or on Class Dojo. Go Bears:)
