ME!

My precious family

Please see below (to the bottom of my page) for important schedule and resource information.

Hello! Welcome to my page. My name is Laurie Mollenkopf.

I teach Jr. High and High School instrumental music. My goal as an educator is to foster a love for music and for making music with your students, that will stay with them for their lifetime. I am an educator because I feel that I have been called by God to change lives through teaching music--not only through the work of teaching, but also through my example as a respectful, loving, and caring human being. When I can be anything at all, I choose to be kind. I believe it is my job to lead others to be kind as well, and to be good citizens all around. My favorite word to teach is INTEGRITY, and the second is RESPECT. We talk about the meanings of those words a LOT, along with music speak (of course).

I am a 1989 graduate of La Vernia High School where I was the valedictorian of my class. I have a Bachelor's Degree from Texas Tech University with All-level Teacher Certification in Music. I also hold a Generalist Certification for grades 4-8.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart since 1992. He has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech, and a Master's degree in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University. He works in Civil Service. We have 3 biological children--twins (a daughter--married 2020, and a son--married 2018) born in 1996, a daughter born in 2005, and 1 "adopted" son--married in 2016--born in 1985. We also have a granddaughter born in 2011, a grandson born in 2018, and another granddaughter born in 2021. We have two shih tzu babies as well--Cooper Ray and Eevie Marie.

We stay busy as a family, and I am a super proud momma. I am always ready and willing to brag on my precious family. I would say my favorite "hobby" is just being around the people that I love--especially my sweetheart, and spending quality time with them. I love to laugh and "cut up," and I generally have a running commentary on any given subject (meaning, I LOVE to talk).

If I can help you or your student(s) with anything, please don't hesitate to contact me, and I will get back with you as soon as I am able. My schedule is listed below. My email address is lmollenkopf@lvisd.org, and that is the easiest and usually the quickest way to get a hold of me. My office phone number is 830-779-6630 X3295 (It is NOT easy to reach me here, as I am rarely just sitting at my desk, where my phone is located). I look forward to serving and working with you and your children.
