Hello, my name is Jacob Helgeson and I am the Geometry and Math for the Trades teacher at Luxemburg-Casco High School! I grew up in Valders, WI and I'm a graduate of Valders High School. I attended Lakeland College in Sheboygan, WI where I graduated multiple times with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics Education with minors in Business and Religion.  I received a Masters of Education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI where I focused my thesis on organization and the use of a portfolio and its affects on student success. My teaching experience includes three years at Westosha Central High School in Salem, WI before coming to the Luxemburg-Casco School District in 2009. Besides teaching at LCHS, I have been involved as a coach in multiple sports and advise numerous activities including the Yearbook, SPLAT, Chess Club, and the Freshman Class Advisor.  In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball any chance I get and I wouldn't say I enjoy it, but I trained for numerous half and full marathons in hopes of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  I also enjoy spending as much time as I can with my wife and daughters and our extended families.

As a teacher, I firmly believe that every student can learn.  I believe in setting high expectations for my students and through that challenge students often rise to the occasion and find success.  I also believe that it is through the struggle that we learn the most about ourselves and that together my students and I can work through any problem we encounter.  I believe that success comes from hard work and the student who is willing to put in the effort will find unlimited success in my class.  I believe my students will learn  many life skills and the curriculum is the setting for learning those skills.
