Academics & Curriculum

Primary School Curriculum Overview

In order to know our students’ strengths and areas of need and then to best meet those needs, Lunenburg educators rose to the challenge by reflecting on current resources, identifying gaps, and revising and adopting programs and practices that best met student needs.  With multiple learning models in practice, educators drew upon print and digital resources and platforms.  The results are a revised scope and sequence and assessment schedule.  These documents guide educators’ work at a high level.  Curriculum maps provide further detail of the district provided curriculum.

During planning times, educators further detail their instructional content and practices to the lesson and formative assessment level by analyzing the intersection of planned curriculum and learned curriculum as evidenced by student assessments.  Educators make adjustments to their planning daily. The scope and sequence, assessment schedules and curriculum maps are also dynamic documents that are revised.  At the end of the school year, scope and sequence, assessment schedules and curriculum maps will be reviewed and revised based on student data, the latest research, and educator input.
