TEAMS Engineering

This year at LHS, a few students from the STEM academy decided to join the annual TEAMS competition. The TEAMS program is an annual STEM competition challenging students to work collaboratively and apply their math and science knowledge in practical, creative ways to solve real everyday engineering challenges. After participating in TEAMS, students increase their knowledge of engineering, feel more confident about participating in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities and increase their ability to work with others to solve complex problems. The TEAMS Competition helps to develop “STEM-capable” students in an engaging way by showing them how math and science, with an engineering focus, are used to make tangible differences in the world. The theme for 2014 is “Engineering Tomorrow's Cities - Improving Urban Infrastructure.” We will be working with numerous civil engineers to help understand the topics in the competition.
