Traci graduated college with a degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from Central Missouri State University and an Associate’s Degree in Cross-cultural Ministry from Manhattan Christian College. She began her career teaching middle school students at Pleasant Lea Junior High and then moved to Summit Lakes Middle School during its inaugural year. Traci completed her Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Webster University before taking time off to be with her children. During her time away, she added to her educational tool box by subbing one day a week in K-12 classrooms for the better part of a decade. Traci chose to go back to full time work as a library clerk at Underwood Elementary School in Lee’s Summit. Working in the library made her realize that she had found her niche! She enrolled in the Library and Information Science program at University of Central Missouri to receive certification to become a Library Media Specialist. Traci loves that she is able to combine her love for reading, helping students and staff, and teaching in the Prairie View North and South Libraries.
When she is at home, Traci loves spending time with her husband, daughter and son! The whole Mattis family loves to spoil their dog, Finnora. You might have guessed that Traci loves to read, but she also enjoys spending time with friends, sewing, going to theater events to watch her daughter perform and cheering her son on at his sporting events!
